Our teaching activities address Chemists, Chemical Engineers, and Environmental Scientists. The backbone of our teaching is built by the lecture series with exercises on safety and environmental aspects in chemical industry. A case study, which is carried out in collaboration with the chemical industry, is an important part of the lecture that allows students to apply their theoretical knowledge on a practical case. Major parts of these lectures can be found in: Hungerbühler, K., J. Ranke, and T. Mettier, 1998. Chemische Produkte und Prozesse. Grundkonzepte zum umweltorientierten Design. Springer, Berlin, pp. 317.
In the seminar series, experts from industry report on their work and scientists from academia present new research.
Another
important part of our teaching activities are the exercise courses on
chemical engineering case studies spread over three semesters including
modelling of chemical processes using e.g. Aspen Plus®. We are also
involved in the practical three-part laboratory course on chemical
engineering.
Students in chemistry, chemical engineering, as well as environmental sciences can do their master thesis (Masterarbeit) or semester projects (Semesterarbeiten) in our group.
